Our Mission
At Spivak Piano Studio, we are passionate about promoting the art of piano playing through advanced training and rich performance opportunities. Our students not only participate in two studio performances each school year but also engage in a variety of piano competitions to broaden their experience and confidence.
Learning to play the piano at our studio nurtures more than just musical talent. It fosters confidence, concentration, creative problem solving, self-awareness, patience, and discipline. Our comprehensive approach also includes music theory, helping students strengthen their math skills, counting abilities, and reading comprehension.
With years of performing and teaching experience, we are dedicated to bringing the joy of music into every student’s life. At Spivak Piano Studio, we don’t just teach piano—we inspire a lifelong love for music.

Leonard Spivak
Mr. Leonard Spivak is native to Odessa, Ukraine. He began studying piano at 6 in the City Music School under E. Zamler, a stern disciplinarian who emphasized practicing scales, etudes, and technical study. Later, Mr. Spivak attended Moldova State Music College where he continued to improve his techniques as a pianist, and received Bachelor Degree in Pedagogy, Chamber Music and solo performance. At the age of 19 he attended Moscow Gneisina Russian Academy of Music, where he took classes with famous performers and professors - Gregory Gordon, and Valerie Samoletov. During these years, he performed in many different concert hall, at State Radio station, with various Chamber Music ensembles, symphony orchestra, as well as solo Piano Recitals.
This was the time Mr. Spivak truly blossomed as a performer, his interpretations of music by German - Austrian classics composers molded the core of his repertoire - Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms... While working on his dissertation at Gneisina Music Academy, Mr. Spivak took position as the Professor of the Chamber Music Faculty at Petrozavodsk Conservatory, a Branch of Saint Petersburg State Conservatory.
In New York, Mr. Spivak formed his Chamber Music Trio, performing at Carnegie Hall and other venues, including the TV and Radio appearances in Texas. Mr. Spivak traveled the world with solo performances, and private Master Classes at Colleges and universities. His students are participants and winners of various Competitions, and can be found teaching professionally in music schools and colleges all over the world.
Svetlana Spivak
Mrs. Svetlana Spivak - holds Bachelor, Master Degrees and PhD diploma as a Piano Teacher, Soloist Performer, and an Accompanist from prestigious Ukrainian State Music Conservatory. She started to play piano at the age of 5, and was very lucky to have excellent teachers during all her 22 years of studying piano. She was a concert master for Ballet Theatre of Odessa State Opera House, and a piano teacher in the city Music School. After immigrating to New York City in 1986, she worked at the Julliard School of Music, the New York Conservatory, and Joffrey Ballet School. She performed solo and chamber music concerts. For the last two decades, Svetlana has devoted her efforts to teaching, using famous Russian piano school techniques. Her students are winners of many Piano Competitions. Mrs. Spivak's mission is to inspire every student to experience the personal joy of fully developing their potential as artists, performers.
Today, Svetlana and Leonard Spivak are the founders and music directors of the Spivak Piano Studio, where they continue to dedicate time, knowledge, and experience to the enrichments of new musicians.
They say: "If after studying with us a student can enjoy a classical or jazz music concert, an opera, or a ballet performance, we will feel that our mission is complete."
